Shaun Rock currently is the 5th through 8th grade art educator for the Board of Education in Mansfield CT. Moreover, he is active in developing and implementing projects as a fine artist in addition to his position at Mansfield Middle School. Mr. Rock began his artistic career as an apprentice for sculptor Jack Marshal, at Keene State College, in New Hampshire. Working with Mr. Marshal afforded him the opportunity to utilize diverse tools and materials, for example, welders, metal, and clay for sculpture. Mr. Rock earned a BFA at the University of Connecticut, concentrating on the use of two dimensional media through drawing and painting; he graduated from Southern Connecticut State University with a Master of Science in Education. To further develop and refine his skills, he has attended schools in Connecticut, New York and Rhode Island. Upon graduation, Mr. Rock worked professionally as an artist. He kept a studio and delved into different areas freelancing. He produced designs for advertising companies, created illustrations for magazines, and worked on interiors for restaurants and nightclubs. Painting huge billboards for an advertising company remains one of his favorite jobs. Currently, Mr. Rock concentrates significant time creating large scale figurative paintings and drawings.
